Vernon NJ Man Allegedly Owes $12K in Unpaid Tolls, Fines
A Vernon NJ man was recently arrested as he headed toward the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, New Jersey. The suspect was pulled over by Port Authority cops who recognized his vehicle as a “habitual toll violator.” Police eventually arrested the suspect for unpaid traffic tickets.
The suspect is a 36-year-old resident of Vernon Township in Sussex County, New Jersey. NJ authorities have been trying to catch him for some time because they believe that he has stolen thousands of dollars from the state by committing NJ E-ZPass violations on toll roads.
The suspect was apprehended around 4:00 p.m., which is when he allegedly pulled up to the toll booth just outside the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, NJ. The suspect was driving a white 2006 Toyota Scion that is reportedly registered in his name.
After stopping the suspect’s vehicle and running a check on him, law enforcement reportedly discovered that he owes $12,740 in unpaid tolls and fines. According to Port Authority officials, the suspect has 206 toll violations on 21 different accounts with E-ZPass.
The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters for processing. Depending on the circumstances of the case, he could be subject to additional fines and even jail time.
