Plainfield NJ Man Charged with Criminal Mischief in Hopatcong, NJ
Hopatcong NJ police arrested a man who allegedly caused a disturbance at a local Dunkin’ Donuts coffee shop.
The suspect is an 18-year-old resident of Plainfield in Union County, New Jersey. According to Hopatcong authorities, the suspect created the disturbance while ordering coffee around 6:00 p.m.
The suspect reportedly walked into the Dunkin’ Donuts, approached an employee behind the front counter, and ordered a cup of coffee. Things went smoothly enough – until the employee was unable to provide caramel topping for the coffee. When the suspect learned that only chocolate topping was available at that time, he allegedly became irate and started to scream at the worker.
According to witnesses, the suspect subsequently exited the building and grabbed a bicycle outside the shop. He then allegedly tossed the bike onto the ground and caused property damage.
Store employees dialed 911 to alert the Hopatcong Police Department to the situation. Hopatcong NJ cops soon arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect. He was then charged with criminal mischief. At this time, the suspect has not been charged with disorderly conduct.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. He will have to appear in Plainfield Municipal Court at a later date to address the criminal charges against him.
